Mersen has developed a customized fuse for Marquardt to protect the electrical system supporting the auxiliary functions of new electric vehicles, making it Marquardt’s sole supplier for this solution.
The agreement could represent sales of around €20-25 million for Mersen over the lifetime of the project, depending on the success of the next generations of premium electric vehicles developed by German premium car manufacturers.
The agreement is part of Mersen’s strategy to develop in the electric vehicle market. It is currently in the process of being qualified by other European and American car manufacturers.
Luc Themelin, Chief Executive Officer of Mersen, said: “I would like to congratulate our teams for the work they’ve accomplished over the last three years, in terms of both R&D and industrial certification. This agreement is the result of 18 months of collaboration with Marquardt to develop a product tailored to the specific requirements of these new platforms. For Mersen, it represents a key stage in our strategy on this market, which offers significant medium-term potential for the Group of around yearly €50 million over the next three to five years.”
